Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions outline the services provided by Bright Leaf Therapy and the expectations of both client and therapist during the therapeutic process. By engaging in therapy, you agree to these terms.

2. Therapy Services

I provide one-to-one Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to adult clients. Sessions may be delivered in-person or remotely via a secure, GDPR-compliant video platform. CBT is a collaborative, structured, evidence-based approach. While many clients experience significant benefits, outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

3. Confidentiality

All information disclosed within therapy sessions is treated as confidential and will not be shared without your written consent, except in the following circumstances:

  • If there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others

  • If there is disclosure of abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult

  • If required by law or court order

  • For clinical supervision (discussed anonymously to maintain ethical practice)

4. Data Protection & GDPR

I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and fully comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Key points:

  • Your personal data is used only for therapy, administration, and safeguarding purposes.

  • Data is stored securely in encrypted, password-protected systems.

  • Records are kept for 7 years (in line with BABCP and legal standards), after which they are securely destroyed.

  • You have the right to access, amend, or request deletion of your data, unless restricted by legal or regulatory obligations.

  • You have the right to opt in to my clinical will so that you can be contacted in th event of my death or incapacitation.

5. Appointments and Cancellations

  • Sessions last 50 minutes unless otherwise agreed.

  • Cancellations require a minimum of 48 hours notice. Cancellations with less notice or missed sessions will be charged in full, except in emergencies or exceptional circumstances.

  • Regular attendance is encouraged. Repeated cancellations may result in therapy being paused or ended.

6. Fees and Payment

  • Standard session fee: £80

  • Payment is due before each session via bank transfer.

  • Invoices and receipts are available upon request.

  • Fee reviews may occur annually with prior notice.

7. Online Therapy

For remote sessions:

  • A secure, GDPR-compliant platform (e.g. Zoom) will be used.

  • You must be in a private, quiet location with a reliable internet connection.

  • In case of technical issues, I will attempt to contact you via phone or reschedule the session.

  • Please ensure your device is up to date and your notifications are turned off during the session.

8. Professional Conduct and Complaints

I adhere to the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

If you are dissatisfied with the service:

  1. Please raise your concern with me directly.

  2. If unresolved, you may contact the BABCP via their official complaints procedure.

9. Crisis Support

This practice does not offer an emergency or crisis service.

If you are in crisis or feel at risk, please contact:

  • NHS 111 or your GP

  • Samaritans (24/7): 116 123

  • Emergency services (999)

10. Ending Therapy

You are free to end therapy at any time. Ideally, we will have a planned ending and review progress together. I may also suggest ending or referring you on if:

  • Therapy is no longer appropriate or effective

  • Boundaries are not maintained

  • Fees are unpaid without agreement

11. Changes to Terms

These terms may be updated occasionally. You will be notified of any significant changes.

By continuing therapy, you confirm that you understand and agree to the terms outlined above.
